Save the planet with tree planting

By Ekabole Joy | CEO/ Founder

Echoe Responder COMERES has initiated a tree-planting campaign in Kumba, Cameroon, as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and community development. Kumba and its surrounding areas have been facing increasing challenges such as deforestation, soil erosion, erratic rainfall, and loss of biodiversity—issues that threaten both the environment and the livelihoods of the people.

Tree planting is a practical and impactful way to restore degraded land and protect natural ecosystems. Trees help absorb carbon dioxide, reduce the risk of flooding, and improve air and water quality. By engaging in this effort, COMERES aims to contribute to climate change mitigation while also promoting food security and soil fertility in the region. Trees also provide shade, timber, fruit, and other resources that support the local economy and improve the quality of life for residents.

This initiative is not just about planting trees—it is about educating and empowering communities, especially the youth. COMERES actively involves students, local farmers, and women’s groups in its campaigns, helping them understand the importance of environmental conservation. Through workshops and hands-on activities, participants gain valuable knowledge and skills that inspire long-term commitment to sustainability.

Additionally, this project aligns with COMERES’s core mission of responding to community needs with practical solutions. In a region affected by both conflict and climate instability, restoring green spaces fosters peace, resilience, and hope.

In summary, the tree-planting program led by COMERES in Kumba is a vital step toward healing the environment, strengthening community ties, and ensuring a healthier planet for future generations. It reflects the organization’s belief that small, local actions can have a powerful global impact.
