Update: Saving Mexicos National Symbol

Dear Donor,

Our project to save the Golden Eagle in Mexico, is going well! In 2010, the project Golden Eagle: Man and Nature was developed as an educational and communications tool to raise awareness among Mexican communities of the importance of protecting this living national symbol. In 2012, the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature (FMCN) and its partners are implementing a project that takes efforts to conserve the Golden Eagle in the field. Specifically, it aims to identify and protect Golden Eagle nests and habitats and to mitigate the effects of human activity in 5 priority regions. This group, including government authorities are determined that conservation efforts should include a protocol and strategy to be used nationwide for data-gathering and monitoring of Golden Eagle populations and breeding sites; an effort that is being facilitated in partnership with our Global Giving donors.

Last September 5th we signed and agreement with City Express, a Mexican hotels chain, where their guests will contribute to the Golden Eagle project thru redeeming "city points" form their loyalty program. On the other hand, next October, we will be hosting an event jointly with Breitling watches, where an special 200 pieces watch edition, The Golden Eagle, will be presented to the public and a percentage of the revenues will be donated to FMCN educational programs. A famous Mexican engraving, Francisco Toledo, will also be in auction to raise funds for the project.

It is fulfilling to work with this project, which is helping to preserve such important and emblematic specie.

Thank you once again for your support,

Sincerely,

Save the Golden Eagle Team
