Today is International Tiger Day! There is no better time to make a contribution to help us research and protect Sumatran tigers and their rainforest habitats.
In recognition of tigers, Hutan Harimau is presenting at the Louisville Zoo in Kentucky, USA and also arranging several workshops and events locally in West Sumatra. These workshops included participation from the head of Kerinci Seblat Seblat National Park, the largest protected area in Sumatra and one of the most important areas for tigers range-wide.
Over the past few months, we have continued our work patrolling the Leuser and Ulu Masen Ecosystems. We also recently completed a major 15-day expedition to Kerinci Seblat. Activities in West Sumatra feature inauguration of a new “Tiger Team” and “tiger-friendly village.” The tiger team is comprised of village-based rangers that have been working with Hutan Harimau since the establishment of our organization; this week will mark the first time they are officially recognized by the local government.
With support from friends like you, we can continue to work tirelessly across our study area landscapes—surveying critical habitats, collaborating with local communities and governments, and documenting human-tiger conflicts. Together, we can save the tiger and their rainforest habitats.
Thank you for your interest.
Sincerely,
Hutan Harimau
