Helping People to live Healthy life

By Team Bilqees Sarwar Foundation | Administrator, Bilqees Sarwar Hospital

Committed to Provide Healthy Living Beyond the Dialysis Machine

The function of kidneys in the human body is to filter out the waste from the blood and also helps to keep balance among minerals and to control acidity in the human stomach. When these natural filters malfunction or stop the filtration process, it is called Chronic Kidney Disease – CKD. CKD has become one of the most rapidly spreading ailment mounting its roots by affecting millions of the population around the globe. It is estimated that every 5th being in the American and European countries is the victim of CKD. According to researchers, the number of kidney hospital are limited compared to adults aged 30 or older who have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is projected to increase from 13.2% currently, to 14.4% in 2020 and 16.7% in 2030.

In Pakistan, alarming stats from DAWN News presented a major increase in this ratio and more than 25 million people are affected by some sort of kidney disease. The major cause of CKD are diabetes, blood pressure, infections, obesity and consumption of contaminated water. To control the increasing number of the CKD patients, government, nephrologists and the media should play their role in spreading the basic awareness on grass root level about the kidney disease and preventive measures to avoid becoming a prey.

Our Ambition:

While understanding the gravity of the current healthcare scenario in Pakistan and increase in kidney disease in particular, Bilqees Sarwar Foundation is playing its part in handling the high influx of patients, especially the ones unable to afford the quality dialysis treatment in a standard environment by accommodating more patients in Punjab’s largest dialysis centre operational at Bilqees Sarwar Hospital (BSH).

Bilqees Sarwar Hospital (BSH) is a healthcare initiative of Bilqees Sarwar Foundation (BSF), a family run charity working for the betterment of society in the sectors of healthcare, education, prisoner’s welfare and humanitarian assistance. This hospital is operating Punjab’s largest dialysis centre, providing free dialysis treatment to the underprivileged community members. This dialysis centre is comprised of 54 latest dialysis machines with 3 separate dialysis wards for the patients suffering hepatitis C+, C- and B+. From its inception till July 2018, we have conducted over 40,000 free dialysis procedures successfully. Currently, we are operating 2 dialysis procedure shifts daily and conducting over 2800 free dialysis procedures per month along with the provision of hygienic food to the patients.

Our skilled team of nephrologists is helping the patients by educating them about the causes, symptoms and preventive measures of chronic kidney disease. Following this year, on 23rd March, Pakistan Day, President of Pakistan acknowledged the efforts of Bilqees Sarwar Foundation and conferred Chairwoman BSF, Mrs. Bilqees Sarwar with “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz” (Medal of Excellence: fourth highest state organized honor of State of Pakistan) for the establishment of Punjab’s Largest Dialysis Centre and providing state of the art healthcare facilities to the patients.

 Our Target:

As a state rewarded welfare organization, we feel responsible to serve our nation while focusing on the underprivileged segments of society with dedication and commitment, at BSH we are in the phase of expanding our facility by increasing the number of dialysis machines from 54 to 80 to cater the high influx of patients with utmost care and attention by activating 3rd shift under the supervision of our competent team of doctors. By increasing the number of chairs from 54 to 80 dialysis machines and activating the 3rd shift, BSH will save approximately 240 patients daily and will be able to conduct more than 6,000 free dialysis procedures per month. This dream can only be achieved with your support. We would like to invite you to join this noble cause of serving the humanity by helping us in the form of donation.

Please take a look at the patient’s reviews who are getting free treatment from BSH.

“I was treated in emergency department when I visited the hospital and that treatment was not good. I was discharge from the hospital but my condition was getting worse. I am diabetic and also have high blood pressure issue. At that time, my blood pressure was very disturbed and my sugar was out of control. When I was diagnosed with CKD, my husband tried his best to get me a seat in any government hospital but unfortunately, we didn’t get it. I am from a poor family and we can’t afford a private treatment. Fortunately, we came to know about BSH from a relative and my husband visited the facility and I was enrolled right on time.
