Challenge
Pakistan ranks eight in kidney disease causing 20,000 deaths every year. The number of patients affected by Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is increasing day by day and has become a major challenge to healthcare facilities around the world. In Pakistan, CKS is a prevalent disease and its frequency is expected to be increased rapidly as the population of Pakistan ages. The annual mortality rate per 100,000 people from chronic kidney disease in Pakistan has increased by 72.0%. BSH is organizing informative seminars and free diagnosis camps for the community members to raise awareness about preventive measures and timely diagnosis of kidney disease.
Solution
Razia Begum Dialysis Centre, operated by BSH is one of the foundation’s most actively running projects providing free and subsidized healthcare to all those who cannot afford to pay medical expenses. Once you make a donation, we are using our maximum resources to save each patient’s life. Out transparent system of donation collection ensures that you are contributing for a better cause. We at the Bilqees Sarwar Hospital (BSH), make sure to provide the right kind of healthcare services to the people across Punjab hence making us one of the best hospital in Lahore. Thanks to H. Sheikh Noor-ud-Din & Sons (HSNDS) for playing such a major role in making that possible for the local community.
The high prevalence of CKD in Pakistan, compounded with the lack of funding of medical care, and the high individual cost of hemodialysis has created a large gap in access to quality treatment. We believe that there is dire need for launching such programs to facilitate the rural communities. Many patients in Pakistan with kidney disease do not have an access to the right medical attention, due to a lack of funds as well as inadequate facilities, equipment and professional medical staff. To face this growing healthcare crisis, we inaugurated the Razia Begum Dialysis Centre in June 2016 to provide free quality treatment to low-income patients.

We are planning to enroll more patients from the remote areas where there is a need of quality healthcare facilities is increasing and these areas requires much attention for basic necessities of life. For this purpose, we need funds to be raised across the globe.
Some of our patients shared their stories about their declining health how they are served at Bilqees Sarwar Hospital. These statements are based on real interviews.
Patient Name: Mrs. Zarina
Miss Zarina is suffering from CKD for more than three years now. She’s been visiting Bilqees Sarwar Hospital (BSH) for the past nine months. Before coming to BSH, she was attending the dialysis procedures from a private facility where she was not satisfied with the quality standards.
She said, “It’s been more than three years when my declining health conditions led me towards kidney failure and I was prescribed to attend dialysis procedures. My family chooses a private kidney care facility for my treatment. After few visits, I start feeling that their machinery was not up to the mark and their staff was not professional. We were searching for a hospital with quality medical standards and luckily, we came to know about BSH through a TV commercial. It’s been nine months now that I am taking my dialysis treatment here and I am very satisfied with the treatment and the environment.”
Patient Name: Miss Aneela
“Uncontrolled diabetes has led me towards kidney failure,” says Miss Aneela.
Miss Aneela was a diabetic patient and three years ago she was diagnosed with CKD. She visited a government facility where they tried to treat her but at last, she was referred to attend the dialysis procedures.
She shares her story, “I was diabetic and uncontrolled sugar level has led me towards kidney failure. I was rushed to the hospital where they kept me under observation. My family decided to take me to a private kidney care facility, which proved to be a nightmare. After attending a few procedures, my health began to fall and soon I was on a wheelchair because I was unable to walk. Their procedures took less time than what’s prescribed by the medical professionals, and due to that maltreatment, my blood pressure was out of control. My family was very worried about the decline of my health and they shifted me from one facility to another in search of good treatment. Fortunately, one of my relatives advised me to visit at Bilqees Sarwar Hospital (BSH) and it’s been a year that I am attending quality dialysis treatment with satisfaction at BSH. The staff is very professional and they have maintained good quality healthcare.”
Patient Name: Mr. Ghulam
“I visited a government facility to attend a dialysis procedure, however, after the treatment, I felt nauseous and my diet schedule was disturbed,” says Mr. Ghulam.
Mr. Ghulam was diagnosed with chronic #kidney disease almost two years ago. He is getting #dialysis treatment from #BSH for the past five months. Before visiting BSH, he went to a government hospital where he faced complications.
He adds, “When I was diagnosed with CKD, I was attended by a government hospital but unfortunately it required a whole day to wait for my turn in the long queue. It was a painful experience because after the procedure my health was badly affected. I began to vomit after the procedure and I was unable to eat anything. After visiting BSH, my condition is better than before and now I am taking my diet properly. At BSH, the doctors are taking good care of all the patients and I am feeling much better.”
Mr. Ghulam is very satisfied with the treatment given by BSH and its staff.
Patient Name: Ahmed
“My son (Ahmed Butt) is suffering from disabilities related to the development of large intestine by birth. I was unable afford the medical expense related to his dialysis treatment. Says Ahmed’s Father”
Ahmed’s father was very upset due to the critical condition of his 16 years old son and describes how Ahmed’s disability effected his kidneys. 5 years ago, Ahmed was prescribed to follow the dialysis procedure due to chronic kidney disease. His father was unable to afford the heavy medical expenses of dialysis treatment offered by private centers and was less satisfied due to low-quality treatment. Bilqees Sarwar Hospital – Lahore took the responsibility of taking care of this child and by the Grace of ALLAH, he is getting the best dialysis treatment free of cost.
His father is very satisfied with the treatment given by BSH. He is happy with the staff and environment.
