We continue working on Isabela for a healthy and respectful environment with all human and non-human animals living on this island. We highlight the importance of sterilization as the most effective and humanitarian method for the control of canine and feline populations, in which we have been working for almost 20 years. In conjunction with the provision of five-fold vaccines for dogs, deworming, identification chips and primary health care for dogs and cats, our program aims to generate more opportunities to raise awareness about responsible coexistence and provide the necessary tools to achieve it.
On this occasion, 45 sterilization surgeries, 141 deworming procedures, 61 vaccines and 17 identification microchips were performed. At the same time, we welcomed the participation of Jorge, Dog Trainer, who provided advice and private and group classes for dogs in Puerto Villamil. It is important that dog keepers understand the behavior of their dogs and allow them to coexist with their environment being able to walk on a leash without chasing, vehicles, other people or animals.
All these important activities are carried out thanks to the donations received and the effort and commitment of the wonderful volunteers who are part of this program.
