We opened the year with a successful campaign. This time Dr. Katie, Dr. April, and Oriana flew all the way down to spend a fantastic week in Isabela island. Sixty-five patients were sterilized and 5 more received other surgeries to improve their quality of life. All our visitors received a new leash and collar in addition to deworming and treatments against fleas and ticks, the hot season has already started, and keeping dogs and cats free of external parasites is very important.
Every time our volunteers are on the island they have a lot of work, there are many health checks to do and emergencies to attend to. Volunteers take their work very seriously but also enjoy beautiful moments with our patients.
This time Dr. Katie, Dr. April, and Oriana accompanied the ABG staff on their tour of the central town and the highlands of Isabela to pick up and drop off the patients. Some of them were very lucky and volunteers even took them in their arms up to the clinic. Volunteers also talked to people about our project and how important it is to sterilize the dogs and cats on the island.
It was a very busy week but we are so happy to be able to continue working on Isabela thanks to your help.
