As part of the School Adoption Program, Ashwini Charitable Trust(ACT) has collaborated with Government Tamil Higher Primary School(GTHPS) since 2013. To create a conducive environment for learning, ACT focuses on various key aspects to provide the much needed support to the school.
Under the ACT Education Program at the school, our ACT Team comprising of Teachers and Program Coordinators, has been focusing on the foundational and preparatory level of the school. Understanding and identifying numbers, story telling skills, comprehending stories, understanding of greater than and smaller then, pattern analysis, etc have been some of the focus areas. As children were gearing up for the final examinations, ACT team helped with thrashing out their doubts and assisting with practising their necessary portions.
Keeping the creative development as the main focus area of the sessions, craft sessions were conducted for the children at the school, every Saturday. This also boosts their academic achievements. We also use play as medium of education for the children. Games like Memory Game, etc. not just build their cognitive abilities but also their social skills and emotional well being.
For Team ACT, celebrating the birthdays of our children is sacrosanct. Birthday celebrations don’t just make the children feel special, they also give the students a reason to come together and celebrate. We organised birthday celebrations for children at the school. Cake and chips are our time favourites!
We would like to thank every individual who has continued to support us in facilitating the education of the children of GTPHS. That education is a game changer is a truth beyond doubt. Educating the children from economically disadvantaged families is critical for them have a fair chance at leading a life their parents could not even think of.
So, for all of us to collectively take on the responsibility of creating a conducive environment and a robust mechanism wherein education is a right and not a privilege will ensure that every child goes to school, from there on to college, gets educated and is thereby empowered to built a life of her/his dreams.

We would also like to wish all our children the best of luck as they gear up to move onto the next academic year!
