We want to share a short testimony from an incredibly courageous woman. Her first pregnancy came at a very young age, but she found the strength to choose motherhood and begin a life-changing journey.
“Becoming a mother means discovering a strength within yourself that you never knew you had. My journey into motherhood has been a winding one. Six years ago, my first pregnancy came as a shock — it felt as though my whole world had collapsed, and I was overwhelmed with panic. But the Crisis Pregnancy Center helped me, and I began to see that this could become the most beautiful chapter of my life.
The news of my second pregnancy was not as frightening, yet with each passing week, my anxiety, fear, and uncertainty grew. I didn’t know how to cope or how to find stability. Once again, the Crisis Pregnancy Center reached out a helping hand and gave me a safe place where I could let my emotions out.
Today, I have the greatest gift life could ever give me — my two daughters. I am so grateful that, despite all the difficult circumstances, they found their way to me. Every tear I shed and every pain I experienced was worth it for this happiness and this powerful love. Motherhood is a journey in which, every single day, you discover that you are capable of more than you ever thought possible. My heart is full…”
No woman should have to face such difficulties alone. If there is no trustworthy person nearby, our Centre can always be a safe place to find understanding, support, and care.
Our impact over the past four months:
During the past four months, 130 new people reached out to our Centre for help — 119 women and 11 men seeking support for their partners. In total, we provided 479 consultations.
Most of those seeking help were women facing difficult circumstances during pregnancy, after giving birth, or following the loss of a baby. During this summer period, we also received 14 messages announcing the birth of babies to women who had received support from our Centre. News of these new lives is deeply touching and fills our team with great joy!
Help provided during these four months:
Self-help groups:
From May to September, we held three different self-help groups for women: a group for women experiencing postpartum depression, a group for pregnant women, and a group for mothers with babies. We are currently running another support group for women experiencing postpartum depression.
“The group came into my life at just the right time — when I felt the loneliest and was lacking understanding from those around me. The sense of community was probably the most important and most touching aspect for me. Hearing the other women’s motherhood stories was very precious and became a special time, perhaps even the time I looked forward to most. I would listen with anticipation and then carry their stories with me throughout the week, reflecting on them. It was also precious to share my own story, to be heard, and to receive support and compassion. And holding it all together was Ruta’s gentle presence and guidance.”
