In the heart of Nigeria's capital city, Abuja, lies a hidden crisis. 350 vulnerable children (age 6-14) entrusted to a long-standing cultural system, face a harsh reality in their quest for education. Exposed and vulnerable, they sleep in very small and open rooms without toilet facilities, susceptible to malaria and the ever-present threat of the elements. Hunger is a constant companion, forcing them to scavenge and beg for food, never knowing where their next meal will come from.
These children face a brutal combination of health crises and a lack of opportunity. Schistosomiasis steals their energy, making them susceptible to other illnesses like malaria. Sleeping in open spaces exposes them to the relentless Nigerian mosquitoes, further jeopardizing their health. Without access to a proper education, water, and housing their potential remains locked away, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and hardship.
BLPARW is on a mission to create a brighter future for these forgotten children in Abuja. With your contribution, we can build a secure hostel providing safe housing and protection from the elements, conduct free medical services to treat illnesses like schistosomiasis and malaria, and install a solar-powered borehole for clean water access. However, a safe haven alone is insufficient. We aim to construct an innovative combined school and hostel building on community-donated land.
This project is about more than just addressing immediate needs. It's about investing in the future. A secure hostel will safeguard their health, while a western education equips them with the knowledge and skills to break the cycle of poverty. Imagine these children, once burdened by illness and hopelessness, becoming doctors, teachers, or entrepreneurs. Your donation can make that a reality. They will become agents of change in their communities, inspiring others and shaping a brighter future.
