This quarter, our team carried out comprehensive evaluations to assess the current status of the project and evaluate the overall well-being of the children. Thanks to your steadfast support, we have also successfully welcomed an additional 50 children to our facility in Mpape, drawn by the improved living conditions and safer environment you helped create.
For years, the children in our program relied on the local stream for their daily needs, a grueling trek that frequently resulted in waterborne illnesses and painful skin lesions. This quarter, that cycle was officially broken. One young boy recently shared that he no longer fears the "itch" after bathing, now that he can access clean water right at his doorstep.
What We’ve Achieved This QuarterWe focused intensely on WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) infrastructure to create a safer, healthier, and more dignified living environment:
Malaria Prevention: We successfully closed open gutters surrounding the children’s accommodation using durable concrete slabs, effectively eliminating stagnant water breeding sites for mosquitoes.
Sanitation Overhaul: We completely renovated the toilet facilities, incorporating high-quality tiling and installing modern water closets and showers.
Dignified Access: By bringing clean water directly to the facility, we have eliminated the need for children to fetch water from the dangerous local stream, significantly reducing their exposure to environmental hazards.
Because of your unwavering support, the physical health of these children is visibly improving. Our most recent Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) data shows a direct correlation between these facility upgrades and the children's well-being:
Impact Highlight: Since the provision of these renovated toilet and shower facilities, the incidence rate of skin lesions among the children has dropped by 30%.
Your donations didn't just buy tiles and cement; they bought health, precious time for study, and a childhood free from preventable disease.
Looking AheadWith the sanitation infrastructure now stabilized, our next phase focuses on sustaining these gains and ensuring every child has the resources they need to thrive in a clean environment. We are actively reviewing our resources and expanding our capacity to comfortably accommodate the 50 new entrants who have joined our program this quarter.
Thank you for standing with the Better Life Program for the African Rural Woman and these resilient children. Your generosity continues to secure a brighter future for every one of them..
