Focus Group Discussion with the boys and community

In Mpape, Abuja, Nigeria live 350 young boys who had embarked on a perilous journey, leaving their homes behind in pursuit of quality education, a tradition deeply ingrained in Northern Nigeria for decades. Their daily commute is a grueling 30-kilometer walk to access the nearest river for water and scavenge for food. The harsh conditions  take a toll on their health, leaving them with sores and skin lesions caused by schistosomiasis, a parasitic disease contracted from the contaminated river water.

Imagine the hardships these boys face, living in such dire conditions while striving for an education. Their resilience and determination to learn is truly inspiring.

To gain a deeper understanding of the root causes of the challenges these boys face, BLPARW conducted focus group discussions with the community. These discussions revealed that access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and proper nutrition were critical factors affecting their health.

BLPARW stepped in to address these issues, transforming the learning environment and providing essential amenities. To ensure access to clean water, a solar-powered borehole has been constructed.

This improvementhas enhanced the physical learning environment and significantly improved the boys' health and well-being. Access to clean water has reduced the risk of waterborne diseases, allowing the boys to focus on their studies without the constant threat of illness.

The transformation of this learning space is a beacon of hope for these boys, offering them a chance to realize their full potential. By providing them with a safe and supportive environment, BLPARW is empowering them to break free from the cycle of poverty and build brighter futures for themselves and their communities. There is still work to be done.

Join BLPARW as we continue to impact the lives of these boys and countless others who face similar challenges. Your support can help us provide essential resources, improve educational facilities, and create a brighter future for these vulnerable children.
