Dear friends,

We are happy to connect with you through our report and share with you the expereince of outstanding studnet from Darfur in Indiana and his empression about early training in Medicine career. We are sorry to not be able to raise money enough to send them to the training and prearing for collage this time, however, this student his parents strived to send him to early training while the Darfur Women Network helped with connection, direction, and follow up. The personal report from the student is below.  Please help us to send more students this coming summer.

The Envision medical forum was held in Hofstra University in New York. The first day they gave me my room key and gave us scholars a tour around campus. We started with splitting the 150 people in 6 groups which we would stay for the whole week.

The program took us to many medical schools not only in New York but throughout the New England region. We were able to interact with pediatric doctors and many other specialties such as surgery. The lunch was to be bought on our own threw out the restaurants in campus. Dinner was only served for free in the Hofstra campus. The program challenges and helps us pursue the career we want in the future in medicine. You could choose from 13 countries from California to New York. We got the opportunity to see professionals in action and navigated through many hospitals.

The accommodations were the dorms of the university at Hofstra and all the students were staying at the same building because emptied out for the summer. We took buses to the different locations we went to, and always were treated like kings and queens.

The students were from different places from across the world and we were put with people from Greece, Puerto Rico, and many other countries. We did ice breakers so we were able to communicate with one another and get to know one another.

The experience was like no other I was experiencing something much less, but they gave us something I wouldn’t forget. We got to learn about many important figures in the field of medicine. We were given their information just in case we wanted to contact them.

The benefit of this was I got so much experience and an observation of what being a doctor looks like. I learned how medical school, residency and fellowship school would look like from a close distance. I made a lot of friends that I still keep in contact with till today. I learned the reason behind wearing professional clothing and how it defines your image, and makes your first image great.

I definitely recommend this to others, and it will greatly help students on how medical school is like. It helps the scholars on the basics of how to apply what to work on and the steps to do to achieve your dream.
