Dear our friends and our donors,

Darfur Women Network hopes that all of you are doing great! We are existing to share with our report to udate you with our project progress, where we are, what we have done so far, and  what we plan to do to have you join your project, please, take your time to review our report and let's know what is your recommendation, advice, and suggestion. Here is the reprot:

The Medical Career Scholarship Project: is designed in February 2014, the project is about education and capacity building service such as college preparation for no cost for immigrant youth from Darfur. The project will impact our students in different area such as:

     early training and awareness

     enhance students’ skills

     advance personal communication

     advance firsthand experience

     enhance practical guidance and knowledge

Update:

We are excited about our first student from Darfur, living in Indiana, who will join the early training on June 22nd, 2014 in New York.   The departure will be on June 17^th, and will be hosted by people from Darfur (some of them are our Board of Directors) in New York, and then, will be dropped off at the training location. When the training finishes in June 30^th, he will be taken to the airport to leave on July 2^nd.  The student will provide us with report and reflection on his experience to help us and parents to understand the practical experience and if there are lessons learned to improve our work. We will provide you with detailed report about the college preparation’s program.

Now, we are able to raise awareness of the parents of the students about the significance of the college preparation.

Since “enhance practical guidance and knowledge” is one of our project objectives, the project expanded its service to include volunteering coordination for students to provide an opportunity of connecting students with volunteering position and follow up with the volunteer coordinators form the organization or institution.

The Medical Career Scholarship Project was not able to raise fund to allow us to cover the cost of the training for this year.  The good news is that Microsoft will help this project and the micro- project that focus on immigrant youth; therefore, with your help we can alleviate the finical burden from immigrant parents and provide opportunity to immigrant youth.

Good news:

Last week the GlobalGiving invites our project “The Medical Career Sponsorship” to participate in Microsoft Youth Spark Bonus Day!  The GlobalGiving said, “Normally, leaders, and superstars’ partners are a part of the Youth Spark program, but we have invited you exclusively because of your outstanding performance on our platform.” Our outstanding performance as a result of the support of our donors, Thank you our donors and friends, you are always surprise us with good news.  We thank the GlobalGiving for its unlimited support.

We are excited to invite you to support our project and our project and our micro project to reach our goal.  The Microsoft Youth Spark program has pledged fund of $200.000 for 100% matching on June 25^th.

This opportunity, will allow the Darfur Women Network to provide free service of charge to the immigrant youth from Darfur and other African countries in Indianapolis.

Your feedback is very important for us; please let’s know what do you think?

Dear Darfur Women Network's donors and friends,

Our work would not be possible without the generosity of many people, businesses, and foundations as well as organizations.  Special thanks go to those who help us to make change among the law income immigrants in the USA and displaced and refugee women and girls who are the survivors of genocide in Darfur, Sudan.I would like to express my deepest appreciating for your support!

Though 2013 is over, the Medical Career Program’s tuition for 2014 has already started here in the United States. However, we hope will have enough fund to  provide tuition and other expenses to enable eligible students to undergo early training, interact with medical professionals, observe medical procedures, and learn academic strategies from first-year students. They will explore career options, identify necessary skills for success, and will develop leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills. With our fund, students from Darfur will have the academic and financial resources to succeed in the Career in Medicine.

This year, my older son is his first year at college. He changed his major three times and still not 100% sure, now. As parents we were not able to make any academic visit or counseling to help him with appropriate choice. It has been pattern for law income immigrants’ children.  I always think about what if he had been lucky enough to join early training at Envision Experience; he would explore career options and be able to determine his major without hesitation.  Therefore, I appeal to you to support this program to make difference.

Though, to empower students to change their communities through higher education, you can visit our fits for donations of $30: Help young Darfur immigrants become doctors and strengthen their communities. Learn more.  Likewise, all your support will drive engine for us and our scholars. We cannot thank you deeply enough. On behalf of all our students, we’d like to extend our deepest gratitude. We have always believed that education is a transformative power and the gateway to changing communities. Your support continues to fuel this belief. As you all carry on into the New Year of 2014, we ask that you keep us in your thoughts and that you’ll continue to find us worthy of your support.  I would like you to remember that you are the only who make the changes for a better future for the immigrants students from Darfur.
