The Sargassum Sinking Innovation project is currently in a holding phase while we secure additional funding to support the next stage of development. During this reporting period, the consortium has remained engaged, refining technical concepts, reviewing the latest scientific insights, and identifying opportunities to strengthen the project's design and implementation strategy.
Although field activities have been limited, preparatory work has continued to ensure the project can progress efficiently once funding is in place. This includes maintaining stakeholder relationships, assessing potential pilot locations, and exploring partnerships that could contribute technical expertise or financial support.
The project team remains confident in the long-term potential of the approach to contribute to carbon removal and marine ecosystem management. Securing additional financial resources is the key priority for the coming period. Once funding has been obtained, the project is ready to resume development, initiate planned pilot activities, and generate the data needed to evaluate feasibility, environmental integrity, and long-term climate impact.
