Dear Friends and Family,
I hope that this note finds you all doing well during this unprecedented time. These are certainly trying times, and I hope that you are all keeping safe and healthy.
Now, more than ever, SHRI is stepping in to its role as a provider of essential services. The government has given us permission to continue providing our water, sanitation, and hygiene services at all of our facilities as the rest of India remains in lockdown until May 3 (and possibly beyond). We believe that WASH is the bedrock of public health, and we will continue ensuring access to our services throughout this pandemic.
At the same time, we are taking precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our beneficiaries and staff. We have implemented social distancing regulations at all of our facilities. Our beneficiaries now wait in line 6ft apart to enter the toilets in small groups and our staff have been provided with protective face masks, gloves, and other safety/hygiene equipment.
Like everyone else, we are unsure when the situation in India will improve. Our primary concern at this time is the health, safey, and well-being of our staff and beneficiaries. We are taking this time to think carefully about how we will continue scaling, and improving, our services when it is safe and responsible to do so.
