Dear Friends of SHRI,
Thank you, as always, for following our progress. I am excited to share some updates with you.
We had another very successful summer. First and foremost, we made tremendous progress on the construction of our two new facilities in Jharkhand. We are hopeful that both of them will be opening later this fall (mid-October). These facilities will improve access to toilets for nearly 2,000 people. We will also be distributing safe drinking water from both of these facilities, thereby ensuring access to another essential WASH service.
We also completed two research studies. The first was a willingness to pay study that will help us better price our safe drinking water in Bihar. This study was conducted by Drew Cameron, a PhD candidate at UC Berkeley. Drew is in the midst of analyzing these data. Additionally, I worked closely with Caleb Harrison, a MPH candidate from the University of Michigan, to conduct 40 in-depth qualitative interviews to examine the need for shared sanitation facilities in communities where households do not have enough land or money to build their own toilets. We look forward to sharing the results from both of these studies with you soon.
We will be launching our end of the year crowdfunding campaign in November, and will share an update at that time. In the mean time on behalf of the entire SHRI team, thank you for your continued support!
