Komalpreet Kaur, a 12 year old child from singhawala village always faced problems in copying down the notes from the Blackboard. She is studying in the 6th std. Due to her poor vision she always needed assistance of her classmates to get her work done.
After few days, she complained about the problem to her parents. Her father is a farmer by profession and mother a home maker. Being a parent of a young child her father became very possessive about her eye health. He immediately took her to the doctor in their local vicinity and after the check-up; they came to know that she is having cataract in both the eyes.
Poor girl of 12 years who even does not know what cataract is, was facing this problem. Komal has 2 sibling’s one brother and one sister, so whatever amount Komal’s father earnt is spent in fulfilling the basic requirement of the family as well as in paying the tuition fee for the children. For the past five months Komal was facing problems and the same started reflecting in her studies as well as in her playing habits. She was scoring fewer marks in her class tests as well and she avoided playing with her friends which was indeed a matter of concern for her parents.
Komalpreet's father was feeling very helpless that being her parent he is unable to bring joy in her life because of his financial condition.
One day when all family members went to gurudwara sahib of their village, a shopkeeper there told them that Sankara Eye Hospital is organizing a free eye check-up in the nearby village. Immediately, he brought Komalpreet to the camp with all hopes and got her checked by the doctor. After checking her eye she was diagnosed for Cataract, and was brought her to the hospital. The surgery was performed for the left eye. She was also asked to come back to get her right eye operated after few weeks.
She was very excited that she got her vision back and now she can study and fulfil her life’s ambition of becoming a nurse and can work in this hospital so that she can help the people who cannot afford their surgeries. Her parents were delighted and thankful to Almighty and the entire Team of Sankara for giving her daughter's vision back. Now Komalpreet is back home with full of joy and confidence thinking about her bright future.
