Implentation of the activities under the Sanitary Facilities for Rural schools in Uganda project has started with a capacity building session for 20 girls and thier senior woman teacher. The two hours session focused on training these girls on how to make reusable menstrual pads. It was conducted at Kaliiro Primary School in Lyantonde District. This has created a strong peer group with knowlege and skills in making reusable pads.This group will further transfer the skills and knowledge to other girls in the school.
This same school will benefit from the water purifying system that will ensure safe drinking water for all the school children. The contractor, who we expect to install this system has been identified and installation will been done in two weeks time, a report to this effect will be shared thereafter.
