As Sahiyo continues to expand its programs and deepen its impact, we are also thinking about the future of this work and what it will take to sustain survivor-centered support for generations to come. This year, Sahiyo launched an Endowment Fund to help strengthen the long-term sustainability of our efforts to address female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) through education, community engagement, research, and policy work.
The Endowment Fund represents more than financial planning—it reflects a commitment to ensuring that future generations of girls, women, and communities continue to have access to resources, spaces for dialogue, and survivor-centered support. Building long-term sustainability helps ensure that the conversations, programs, and community connections created today can continue well into the future.
As one community member recently shared:
“Creating lasting change means thinking not only about the needs of today, but also about the generations who will come after us. The Endowment Fund is an investment in a future where survivors continue to be heard, supported, and empowered.”
Over the coming months, Sahiyo will continue sharing updates about the Endowment Fund alongside stories from our programs and community initiatives. We are grateful to the many supporters, survivors, advocates, and partners whose contributions—in all forms—help sustain this work and strengthen the movement toward ending FGM/C.
