Your support ensures that the children of the Sahel receive life saving support they need to prevent or be treated for malnutrition. This time of year (July through October) is known as the "lean season" in the Sahel region. Due to the increasingly dry climate drought conditions prevail and crop failures are more common. With your help our relief partners are prepared to act armed with our life-saving ready-to-use therapeutic foods. These foods are ideally suited through special packaging and shelf stable, nutrient rich formulas that allow them to withstand these extreme temperatures for up to two years.
Since June, your support has enabled us to continuously ship more than 15,000 cases of Plumpy'Nut (Ready to Use Therapeutic Food -RUTF) and RUSF's (Ready to Use Supplementary Food) to Burkina Faso. You are helping us reach more than 15,000 children who are beneficiaries of malnutrition treatment and prevention. Every child saved is an immeasurable success. With an over 95% cure rate, using ready-to-use foods is the #1 best intervention in terms of cost effectiveness and long-term impact.
