For the 3rd time since the Taliban takeover, in 2021, women in Afghanistan are barred from taking college entrance exams. There have been no new women trained as doctors, lawyers, or office managers in Afghanistan. Women across the country have been speaking out, asking for their basic rights to education to be upheld.
Despite this, the Taliban refuses to entertain the idea, even refusing to engage in discussions on women's rights with the UN at the upcoming Doha meeting. What's worse, the UN has agreed to include no Afghan woman in this discussion, a move many are calling out as insensitive and dangerous, given the Taliban's record regarding women's rights.
Sahar Education stands solidly on the side of Afghan women calling for no recognition of the Taliban and greater pressure to be imposed regarding the lives and freedoms of women. Your voice can help bring awareness to this important discussion.
On July 1st, Best-selling author, Nadia Hashimi joins Shogofa Amini of Sahar Education to discuss the toll this continued gender apartheid is taking on Afghan women. Join virtually at 5 pm PST or watch after the broadcast.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about SAHAR and the current situation in Afghanistan!
