Since the Taliban banned secondary education for all girls and women within Afghanistan, over 900 days ago, the situation has become increasingly dire. Women and girls are not the only ones suffering. Poverty has grown by nearly 10 million people since 2021, food insecurity is rising and many families have turned to selling their daughters or vital organs to survive.
The women of Afghanistan continue suffering through the systematic stripping of their rights and liberties. Every opportunity for these women is a victory in resistance. Sahar Education continues to bring empowerment and education to girls and women through ground-breaking underground programs. Sahar programs will bring hope to over 400 women in 2024. With your support, we could help even more women and girls!
Stealth Sisters is in its 3rd round and educates 20 women per round. This program is resuming in March after being interrupted by the Taliban. The brave women in this program are determined to continue learning, despite the dangers. The program teaches IT computers, English, Women’s Empowerment, and health to young women who were devastated by the education ban.
Underground TechSheroes educates 120 IT and 30 coding students across each 6-month round and recently started a second iteration. These students go on to enroll in online courses, feeding their thirst for knowledge and even starting secret schools in their own communities, spreading empowerment to more women and girls.
Threads of Hope teaches 40 underprivileged women who were never educated in school, allowing them to transform their lives and become financially independent. The program includes Literacy, sewing, Women’s Empowerment, and health topics.
