A Movement That Captured the World's Attention: The Infinite Saree
One of our most significant initiatives this year has been the Infinite Saree Campaign.
Launched in January 2026 at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai, the campaign features a 4-kilometre-long saree (the longest saree in the world) as a powerful public symbol of the countless women whose experiences of sexual violence within marriage remain invisible.
The campaign accompanies a petition before the Supreme Court of India challenging the exception that excludes marital rape from India's criminal law. The matter is scheduled to be heard by the Chief Justice of India on 9 September 2026, making this a defining moment in the movement for women's equality and bodily autonomy.
Beyond India, the campaign has demonstrated how creative storytelling can influence global conversations on gender justice. The Infinite Saree has received international recognition, including multiple Clio Awards and a Silver Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, bringing unprecedented visibility to an issue that is often hidden behind closed doors.
For Red Dot Foundation, the campaign represents the convergence of art, advocacy, law, and community mobilisation—showing how culture can become a catalyst for justice.
