PROJECT UPDATE DECEMBER 2011
With support through Global Giving, we have raised over $6,895 towards the installation and launch of sustainable community water purification systems in 2 villages in India – Pochampalli and Katrapalli. Through recent donations we have begun expanding our initiative to emphasize the promotion of hand washing to improve health and hygiene indicators.
DRIVING TO SCALE IN 2012
We continue to improve our service through regular monitoring and evaluation through a business analyitics platform developed through a partnership with IBM. In 2012, we plan on using lessons learned from our two successful years at Pochampalli and Katrapalli and developing a model that can be taken to scale through the region of Andhra Pradesh. As with all our work, defining models for safe water delivery that can be replicated and implemented throughout underserved regions is our goal. Thank you for all of your support. UPDATE ON POCHAMPALLI SITE
Since the launch of this site in November 22, 2010, Safe Water Network has achieved a 57% household adoption rate. In November 2011, the station sold over 52,850 liters of purified water to the community. To ensure that the community continues to participate in this success, we have trained local operators and provided hygiene education for the safe handling of water.
UPDATE ON KATRAPALLI SITE
There has been considerable progress since the launch in January 30, 2011. Over the past month the site has witnessed a 58% increase in volume of water sold. In November 2011, 55% of Katrapalli residents received safe water from our site. This exceeds our one year goal of providing at least 50% of the area with safe, affordable water.
