Women in Kathmandu trapped in sexual exploitation lack safe spaces, support, and opportunities to rebuild their lives. The Pariwartan Day Center provides a safe place to rest, be heard, and access psychosocial support, legal guidance, and vocational training. Through outreach and personalized support, this project empowers 100 women to gain independence, restore dignity, and build a future free from exploitation.
In Kathmandu's Thamel district, many women are trapped in prostitution and sexual exploitation, facing violence, stigma, and extreme vulnerability. They lack safe spaces to rest, emotional support, and access to legal or health services. With no alternatives or support networks, they remain isolated and unable to escape exploitation or rebuild their lives, increasing their risk of abuse, trauma, and long-term marginalization in their communities today.
This project addresses the problem by providing a safe day center where women can rest, feel protected, and access support. Through outreach, social workers connect with women in exploitation and guide them to the center. There, they receive psychosocial care, legal advice, and vocational training. With continuous accompaniment and empowerment activities, the project helps women build confidence, access opportunities, and gradually move towards independence and a life free from exploitation.
In the long term, this project will help women break cycles of exploitation and build independent, dignified lives. By gaining skills, confidence, and access to support networks, they can secure safer livelihoods and improve their well-being. Their children and families will also benefit, reducing vulnerability across generations. The project will strengthen community awareness, promote women's rights, and contribute to lasting social change in Kathmandu.
