Project Report | Dec 21, 2015
the christmas gift.

By Beatrice Vanaja F | Chief Administrative Officer

Dear Donors,

Thank you for all you have done during this year to our lovely children.

During the months of September, October and November we received donations of $427.43 This amount is spent on

Medicines (for two children) $9

Dresses (for celebration and one boy's birthday) $60

Electricity Bill $32

Food expenses $326.43

The mats used by the children for sleeping were torn. We placed the request to a Donor who wanted to celebrate her husband’s birthday by gifting something to the needy. She willingly accepted to donate mats to the children and gave 15 mats on 20.12.2015. Thank you dear donor for the timely gift during this winter season. We are much thankful.

This is the story of Geetha a three year old child. Geetha is the second child of a young desserted mother Shaila (names changed). Shaila's husband gave birth to Latha and desserted Latha and her mother. Then she lived with another man who gave birth to another girl child, i.e. Geetha. After the birth of the second child, that man too desserted Shaila. Shaila, in her longing for love and affection fell prey to another man. The story repeated; another girl child is born and Shaila is left alone with the children again.

Shaila found it very difficult to raise the small kids who are 4.5 years, 3.5 years and 4 months old. She could not go to work leaving the new born and the other two small kids. It was then, we came to know about her through a staff nurse who is working in the hospital where she delivered the baby. The nurse who knows about the work of New Life and it's home for the children for quite some years called for support. New Life's staff visited the home of Geetha and her sister Latha (name changed).  The house they were staying is very much damaged, not at all safe for three small children and the children were looking very pathetic. They were surviving on the porridge provided by the nearby Government creche. And in the nights mostly they slept without food. On seeing the drastic condition, the first two children were admitted to our home immediately in the month of August.

Now Geetha and Latha are in our home. Latha is healthy while Geetha is a weak child. Geetha frequently has health problems and she is given special medical care. She gets cold frequently, affected by constipation and she is malnourished. She is taken to the doctor and medicines and tonics are given to make her healthy.   We hope she becomes a healthy child soon.

Many other children like Geetha are longing for care, love and affection. They should be brought up healthily. Safeguarding them and providing them with nutritious food is possible only with the generous donations you give dear donors. We thank you for helping us to nurture these poor children who would otherwise be wandering in the streets, with irresponsible parents like Shaila and her companions.

Kindly keep supporting our cause and thus these poor, deprived children. Tell your friends and relatives with similar minds to help the poor children about the project. Our children grow because of your generous support and they are thankful to you dear donors.

Thanking you.
