Right now in Bogota (Colombia), a Venezuelan refugee mother is facing pregnancy alone - no money, no papers, no doctor. Partnering with CEDID Kennedy, Polish Medical Mission gives 120 pregnant migrant women every month free ultrasounds, HIV, syphilis and hepatitis screening, lab tests, vitamins and treatment for infections. When a woman needs specialist care, we connect her to Bogota's public hospitals. Your gift means a safer birth and a healthier start for a mother and her baby. Donate today.
Colombia shelters 2.84 million Venezuelan refugees, and pregnant migrant women are among the most vulnerable. Many arrive after brutal journeys, malnourished, with no prenatal care and no legal papers. Without health insurance, they can't register for care; without income, they face exploitation and discrimination, even in clinics. Left untreated, HIV, syphilis and hepatitis threaten both mother and baby. Every day without care raises the risk of losing a child - or a mother's own life.
Through CEDID Kennedy, Polish Medical Mission finds pregnant Venezuelan women before it's too late. Each receives three obstetric consultations, ultrasounds, and screening for HIV, hepatitis B, syphilis and diabetes - all free. Women with infections get treatment; malnourished mothers receive vitamins and iron. When specialist care is needed, we refer women directly to Bogota's public hospitals through our partnership with the Health Secretariat, aiming to reach 1,200 mothers this year.
This project's benefits reach far beyond the delivery room. Early treatment for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B breaks the chain of transmission to newborns, sparing children from lifelong disability or death. Better-nourished mothers mean healthier babies and stronger futures. By building lasting referral pathways with Bogota's Health Secretariat and public hospitals, we help thousands of migrant women find a lasting place in Colombia's health system, long after our clinic doors close.
