The response of the public healthcare delivery system to the Covid-19 Pandemic negatively affected both the provision and utilization of maternal and child healthcare services. Better response strategies are required in India to minimize lag in service delivery. Continuous efforts have been made by HLFPPT to make maternal and child health accessible, available and affordable in its intervention area. This could be possible because of continuous support from our donors. We would like to thank you on behalf of every beneficiary.
This report will give you an insight into the life of Mona and how you supported her and her newborn's life. Mona, age 24 years, wife of Ashok, hails from a small village in Uttar Pradesh. After the successful delivery of her Baby Girl, she is feeling safe now. Initially, her husband was concerned about Safe Delivery during the pandemic situation.
Mona’s family has decided that they will go for home delivery due to the risk of COVID-19 and also because they can’t afford an expensive hospital. Just before a few weeks of her delivery, Mona came across Rajni, a Merry Tarang (MT) worker (Front Line Health workers, working under MerryGold Hospitals in UP) who was on her scheduled visit to the village. Mona approached Rajni with the help of her friends and shared the concerns of her first pregnancy, limited service availability, institutional delivery, and safety during the pandemic. Upon meeting, Rajni counseled Mona about the importance and benefits of institutional delivery, which comes with an added advantage of postnatal follow-up and necessary vaccination for mother and child.
That day, she introduced Merry Gold Hospital Network of Hospitals working across Uttar Pradesh (UP) to provide safe institutional birth that too free of cost. Rajni not only counseled Mona but also addressed every concern of Mona and Ashok’s family.
This led to the enrolment of Mona in MGHN Hospital for necessary updates and medical consultation from time to time until she delivered a healthy child. Finally, on one fine day in June, Mona is blessed with a beautiful princess in the hospital. The couple was happy as there were no issues faced during the whole procedure of delivery.
We could not imagine what could happen to Mona and her children if her family has not opted for institutional delivery. Through safe & normal delivery, Mona has saved the life of her firstborn.
Like, Mona, there are many mothers who need our support in institutional delivery with free medical consultation. They need you at the crucial phase of their life, where a pregnant lady becomes a Mother.
