Hundreds of children in Sri Lanka have lost one or both parents due to poverty, illness, natural disasters, and social instability. This project will establish a safe, child-centered Children's Home in Sri Lanka that provides shelter, nutritious meals, education support, healthcare access, and emotional care for orphaned and parentless children-giving them stability, dignity, and hope for a better future.
In Sri Lanka, many children who lose their parents face: Homelessness or unsafe living conditions Malnutrition and lack of healthcare Interrupted education Extended families often lack the financial ability to care for additional children, leaving vulnerable boys and girls at risk of exploitation, abuse, or institutional neglect. There is an urgent need for small, well-managed, family-style children's homes that prioritize safety, education, and emotional well-being
HELPING CHILDREN INC will establish a Children's Home in Sri Lanka designed to provide a nurturing, stable environment for children who have lost their parents. What the Children's Home Will Provide Safe accommodation in a child-friendly environment Daily nutritious meals and clean drinking water Access to education (school enrollment, uniforms, books, tutoring) Healthcare support (medical checkups, basic treatment, mental health referrals) Emotional and psychosocial care
Within the first year, the project will: Provide a safe home for up to 30 vulnerable children Ensure 100% school enrollment for resident children Improve nutrition and health outcomes Reduce emotional distress through stable care and counseling Create a foundation for long-term independence and self-reliance
