Rescue and empower trafficked children in Mumbai

El Shaddai’s programme to rescue and empower trafficked children in Mumbai focuses on providing safety, protection, care, education and opportunities for a better future. The programme supports children who are vulnerable to or have experienced trafficking, exploitation, abuse or neglect, helping them move towards a life of dignity and hope.

During the reporting period, El Shaddai continued to support vulnerable children by providing safe accommodation, nutritious meals, healthcare, emotional support, education, counselling, and individual care. A safe and caring environment helps children regain their sense of security and begin the process of recovery. The programme also focuses on education, awareness, and life skills. Children are encouraged to attend school, develop confidence, understand their rights, and learn skills that help them make safe and positive choices. Regular guidance and mentoring help children recognise their abilities and build hope for their future.

El Shaddai also places strong importance on helping children rebuild their confidence and develop a positive outlook towards life. Through recreational activities, creative learning, sports, friendships, and consistent encouragement, children are given opportunities to express themselves and experience a sense of belonging. These experiences help children overcome fear and uncertainty, discover their talents, and develop the confidence needed to grow into safe, independent, and responsible young adults. El Shaddai also works with caregivers, community networks, and appropriate support services to ensure that children receive the protection and assistance they need. Where appropriate, efforts are made to support safe family reunification and long-term rehabilitation.

Through this work, El Shaddai aims to provide more than immediate rescue. We seek to give every child a safe home, education, emotional support, confidence, and the opportunity to grow and succeed. We help children rebuild their sense of security, discover their strengths, and believe in their own potential. We aim to ensure that every child has the opportunity to leave behind exploitation and move towards a safe, hopeful, and independent future. Rescuing a trafficked child is only the beginning; empowerment means helping that child recover, learn, dream again, and build a safer and brighter future.
