The Sacramento Capitals Wheelchair Tennis Association is thrilled to have been part of the April 2012 Global Giving Challenge. Although we did not earn a permanent spot on the Global Giving website, we did raise nearly $2,000 from 34 donors. These funds will support our tournament in several ways:
1) provide wheelchair accessible transportation between the airport, our tournament hotel, and tournament venue - this is a requirement of the Internation Tennis Federation for tournaments that are on the ITF/NEC tour. Typically, our van rental costs over $500 for the tournament weekend and with the cost of gasoline on the rise, we anticipated spending approximately another $500 for gasoline.
2) the remainder of the funds from the Global Giving challenge will go toward our Saturday night banquet on June 23rd. This is an opportunity to further the camaraderie amongst players and to wind down after a fun but competitive day on the tennis courts.
