Rural Education in Cambodia: Believe in Me

February marks the end of the first semester for our Believe In Me Rangsei students.  Students were excited to complete their exams; see how far they have progressed and compete with their fellow students.  Many students aim for good scores to try and achieve high ranking in their class and the school.   

In addition to first semester exams, Rangsei students were treated to a wonderful event.  Students received valuable insights from special guests to learn about the importance of studying and working hard.  Students enjoyed coming together, having a lot of fun and learning how to be more successful through study.

For the Rangsei staff, it is gratifying to see the excitement and efforts our students put into their school work and learning.  From the beginning of the day our boys and girls have smiles on their faces and are ready to learn.  It is gratifying and encouraging to see these smiling faces every day. 

Rangsei school lunches help students regain energy and provide vital nutritional support. The kids love to eat and often have multiple plates of rice.  Lunch time continues to be a highlight of student’s day both for eating and bonding with friends.

This month the students worked on traditional Khmer dance in their Art and Music class. Their performances were a huge hit.

Whether in Rangsei’s Library Room or a quiet corner, students love being able to read books.  Rangsei staff often find students reading books during their down time.  The kids love having an outlet to explore the world around them, while at Rangsei Believe In Me school. 

3rd grader Aggie, is new to our program. Aggie is the younger sister of Annalise, another student from our landfill program.  Aggie helps her parents support the family by collecting bottles, cans and other recyclable items. Aggie is dedicated to learning and embracing the opportunity she has to attend school.  Aggie arrives at school on time and never misses class.  She has a passion for learning and is determined to achieve good scores in her classes.  So far, Aggie really enjoys reading and math.  We are looking forward to seeing how high Aggie can soar.

2025 is off to a great start and we are so grateful for your continued support of our Believe In Me Rangsei students.  Your generosity and support is changing the lives of these students and making their dreams come to life.
