Learn and Play: Creating Healthy Norms at School

By Kelly Wolfe | Managing Director

Our Believe in Me Rangsei school manager described the month of May as NORMAL! Why is that? Because each and every day that we continue to support our students, we are providing safety, full bellies, learning, activities, security, and love. All of which we would collectively call normal and expected for every child across the world. Normal is exactly what we hoped for and we continue working to provide it each day.

Not too long ago, Theo (see photo), was living on the streets, finding food any way he could, and sleeping alone. We are so grateful he now has a loving foster home, therapy for his physical needs, and a joyful place to learn every day. This is only possible through the generosity of our supporters.

Our Believe in Me students are working hard in their respective classes. We love to see them focused and serious about their studies, especially the K-3 students who are diligently learning to write their alphabet characters (which is far more complex than the English language). It’s hard to believe that the school year is ending and our students will be completing their end of the year exams.

When they are not studying, our students enjoy every minute of their play time. Check out the photos to see some of the fun! Can you see the human tug of war? There appears to be a focused game of Rock, Paper, and Scissors going on. Rubber Jump always amazes us as kids launch themselves into the air trying to get a toe hold on the band in order to get over top of it and proceed to the next round of play. Bos Angkunh is a traditional game played during the Khmer New Year. To play, one player lines up several objects in a row and the opposite player attempts to knock the opposing players objects out of bounds.

Thank you so very much for your continued generosity and support for our students. We hope you have enjoyed the photos in this month’s update and that they have brought you joy!
