CASE STUDY 1 - Successful treatment of Saniya – As told by her mother
Name : Saniya
Gender : Female
Age : 9 Years
Diagnosis : Ostero Sarcoma
My name is Ayesha, mother of Saniya. My daughter is nine years old. She was very talented in academics and dancing. Our family was devastated when they heard the news that she was diagnosed with Cancer. I have five children and Saniya is the fourth child. My husband works as an auto driver. We were happy until my child was diagnosed with Cancer.
On 8thJuly 2016, she felt pain in her leg and was unable to walk to school. We consulted several doctors in Ranga Reddy district. Finally she was diagnosed with Osterosacroma of left upper leg. Initially she was suffering with severe pain and developed weakness in her left leg. Once we came to know my daughter has Cancer, we immediately shifted her to MNJ Cancer Hospital.
Dr. Sudha and Dr. Jayathi attended the case and started treatment in IMPACT ward at MNJ. My daughter had lot of side effect on first cycle of chemo therapy. Dr.Sudha was really concerned about my child’s situation and requested IMPACT to buy specialized medicine to treat my child. IMAPCT Counselors were continuously following up with us when we were at home. Dr. Sudha revealed that my child’s situation is not improving and referred to Surgical Oncology for their suggestion.
Doctors in Surgical Oncology department recommended Amputation of left leg to stop further deterioration. With tears in eyes and a heavy heart we agreed for surgery and amputation. My child is now doing fine after amputation of her left leg. She is completely cured and planning to go school with an artificial leg.
