Keeping The Pathway Open

Collaboration with FGS for secondary education
Collaboration with FGS for secondary education

RCS has spent years building an education pathway that enables Rohingya children not only to enter school, but to remain, progress, and reach new milestones. We have gradually and strategically expanded access from primary to tertiary education while keeping sustainability at the core of our approach.

In 2026, we celebrated our first graduate entering a bachelor’s degree, the first cohort from RCS Kedah’s secondary pilot sitting for the National Education Certificate Examination, and a new partnership with Fo Guang Shan on secondary education continuity. RCS Kedah's classes also received infrastructure upgrades from its long- standing individual donor.

Yet despite this progress and continued demand from the community, RCS’s future is not secure. We are facing one of our most difficult financial periods to date. As funding becomes increasingly difficult to secure while essential operating costs continue, the programme’s continuity—and the progress built over the years—is at risk.

Without sufficient funding, we may be forced to reduce our programmes or suspend operations, leaving 187 students without a stable place to continue their education. This would also affect our efforts to strengthen social cohesion by sharing RCS infrastructure with a literacy program supporting children from low-income Malaysian families.

This is why continued support matters now. Funding RCS is not simply about helping another child enrol in school; it is about keeping an established education pathway open for children who are already learning, progressing, and building their futures with us. Our immediate priority is to keep both RCS centres operating, and USD 14,500 will enable us to retain our teachers, maintain our premises, and keep education going for two months.

We have spent years building this pathway for one of the world’s most protracted displacement situation. Today, that pathway is at risk of disappearing. We need your support, in whatever form, more than ever.
