Robotics for Young Women with Disabilities: 2026 Results
The 2026 edition is complete!
On August 5, 2026, the Omar Dengo Foundation (FOD) graduated the second group of Robotics for Young Women with Disabilities. With your support through GlobalGiving, 40 young women with disabilities built robots, learned how to program, and created technology solutions in an inclusive and accessible space.
Learning by doing
From June 29 to August 5, 20 young women in the second group worked through building, programming, and problem-solving challenges. They gained technical knowledge. They also strengthened their creativity, logical thinking, teamwork, and confidence to face new challenges.
Every session respected each participant's learning pace. Facilitators gave personal guidance and room to experiment, make mistakes, and find solutions.
2026 results
A key milestone this year was the participation of young women linked to a Comprehensive Care Center for Adults with Disabilities (CAIPAD) of the Costa Rican Association of Exceptional People with Special Needs (ACOPECONE) in Guadalupe, Goicoechea. Their inclusion expanded access to STEM education for a group that rarely finds it.
We saw progress in motivation, independence, communication, collaboration, and confidence. Families also recognized new abilities and new possibilities for the participants.
Each robot built is more than a technical lesson. It shows a talent discovered, a step toward independence, and a new option for the future.
Thank you.
The Omar Dengo Foundation thanks the donors and partners of GlobalGiving. Your support pays for accessible technology training, learning materials, and personal guidance for every participant.
The 2026 results show what happens when barriers come down. Talent finds room to grow. Continuing this program will deepen what participants learn, build new partnerships, and narrow the participation gap for women with disabilities in STEM.
Keep building this future with us.
Your donation brings technology to the next group of participants in 2027.
