Risk reduction workshops
During the course of the current year, risk management workshops have been held in specific areas of the city of Cartagena, where we have noticed that in winter times, due to the characteristics of the area, they suffer from phenomena such as floods, thus reaching neighborhoods corresponding to the Unit Government Community #6 where we enter the neighborhoods of Nuevo Paraiso, Fredonia, El Pozon and Olaya Herrera.
In each of the previously mentioned neighborhoods, the methodology of 3 workshops was proposed and in case we find a community interested in continuing with the process, there is the possibility of holding more workshops. We then have workshops organized as follows:
1. the first, which is a presentation of the global and local context of risk management and an exercise in collective memory of the neighborhood
2.The second, which is a collective diagnosis of risks.
3. The third, which will be focused on the formulation of solutions to respond to the vulnerabilities that have already been identified.
Also, as we believe that it is important to know and recognize the space where we are intervening, we propose an intermediate route after the first workshop to get to know the neighborhood, to know the houses, the materiality, the vulnerabilities that we find but also areas that could be profitable, always thinking about projects. possible that we can develop from the community to begin to mitigate the risk. We have always done this tour hand in hand with the leaders of the community to learn directly from them the reality.
So far we have already completed approximately 12 participatory workshops in the UCG6 where many of the leaders have asked us to accompany them in different processes. We are also proposing the development of other workshops in various areas of Cartagena to impact more communities, we continue working to mitigate risk in our city.
