Building of Computer Lab Susirigama Primary School, a remote school in Welikada.

By Teshani Weerakoon | Project Team Lead

Dear Donor,

Following the successful completion of our recent Smart Board donation, we are pleased to share another important request from Susirigama Primary School, a remote school in Welikada.

The school has requested our support to establish a computer laboratory for its students. We have been working to raise funds for this project through GlobalGiving, and so far, we have raised approximately 60% of the total project cost.

We are especially grateful to Ms. Suranjani Wickremaratne, President of the Tarana Foundation, and her brother, Mr. Lalinda Wickremaratne, who lives in Las Vegas, USA, for their generous donation of two computers toward this project.

We still need to procure four additional computers to fully equip the laboratory and are reaching out to kind donors who may be able to support this need.

In addition to the computers, the existing classroom needs to be converted into a functional computer laboratory. This will involve electrical wiring and other logistical work, as well as the purchase of computer tables and chairs.

For children in a region where resources are scarce and opportunities are limited, access to technology can open new doors. A computer laboratory will broaden their horizons, develop their digital skills, encourage learning, and connect them to the wider world.

We are deeply grateful to all our donors, supporters, and well-wishers for helping us respond to the educational needs of children in Welikada, a community still recovering from the effects of the war. Your support is vital in raising educational standards and giving these children the tools and opportunities they need to build a brighter future.

We kindly invite you to join us in completing this computer laboratory and giving these children an opportunity to learn, explore, and dream bigger.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. May you and your families be blessed abundantly.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Tarana Foundation
