Coral Bay Community Council (CBCC) hosted a fundraising event in November 2026 that featured a watershed education area. The watershed education area highlighted the important watershed work that CBCC and all of their community partners are doing throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands. CBCC hosted a booth to engage with attendees. The activities focused on Coastal Resilience - designing resiliency solutions to protect infrastructure and critical marine ecosystems, Drinking Water Safety, and Waste disposal - Improving drinking water and wastewater infrastructure in homes and small businesses. Over 300 adults and children attended the event. All activities are listed and described below.
CBCC’s Watershed Education Activities
1.Mangrove restoration - Photos and Mangrove Bucket Bed demonstration
2. Cleanups - Photos of coastal cleanups
3. Single use plastic reduction
a. Worksheet to see how many bottles you use in a year
b. Guess the bottles: guess how many bottles in the bag and compare with your use
4. Waste wise - proper disposal of various substances to educate on wastewater best management practices and safe solid waste disposal
5. Leaf filter – Demonstration showing ways of keeping your cistern clean
6. Waste wise - Garbage toss game to educate on proper disposal for key items
