Restoring hope to trafficked girls in Cambodia

In this six-month period, we have made significant progress towards realising Hagar Cambodia’s operational plan: delivering effective services to our clients, strengthening team building capacity, enhancing partnerships with the government and other stakeholders, maintaining donor relations, enhancing systems/procedures to better meet clients’ needs in an efficient manner and sharing knowledge related to domestic violence and parenting skills to clients’ families and communities. 

We are proud to report the progress for first half of 2019:

• Hagar Cambodia continued active engagement with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs in ‘the high level Technical Working Group on Gender-Gender Based Violence (TWGG-GBV) and was involved in consultations for the National Action Plan to Prevent Violence Against Women (NAPVAW) 2019-2023.
• Hagar Cambodia is providing support and ongoing engagement with the Ministry of Justice by joining the Juvenile Justice Law Working Group under the leadership of Ministry of Justice. The judicial guidelines related to children in judicial proceedings in Cambodia has been developed and is under review by the Working Group.
• Hagar International was selected for the Deloitte International Fellowship Program this year, focusing on the Cambodian programme context and will share the results of this fellowship with other Program Offices as needed.
• 79 percent of clients demonstrated improved resilience and 94 percent of eligible clients secured employment during this reporting period.
• 77 clients were supported by the Legal and Protection unit. 27 clients of the 77 are currently involved in active domestic court cases and 14 cases led to a final conviction.
• 4 community outreach sessions related to Parenting Skills and Domestic Violence were delivered in different areas with 124 (86F) community participants.
• 114 (45F) children received catch-up education at the Community Learning Centre (CLC).
• Our Client Management System (CMS) is now fully functional and is providing an effective tool for management oversight and monitoring client services delivery, foster families’ information and improved programme quality.
