QUARTERLY REPORT – LIDAR COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Project Number: 72774
Location: Windhoek, Namibia
Project Title: Restoring Hope for Young Mothers in Windhoek
Reporting Period: Quarter 2 – 2026
Report Date: June 2026

Summary of Activities This Quarter

During this reporting period, Lidar Community Foundation continued supporting learner mothers through economic empowerment and school retention initiatives. Building on the Learner Mothers Fudge Project, we focused on strengthening partnerships with schools and expanding opportunities for learner mothers to participate in income-generating activities while continuing their education.

Lidar engaged with Life Skills teachers, school leadership, and the Khomas Region School Health Task Force to improve access to schools and identify learner mothers who can benefit from the programme. These engagements are helping to create stronger support systems and prepare for future expansion into additional schools.

Highlights

Key achievements this quarter included:

• Continued mentorship and support for learner mothers participating in the project.

• Strengthened collaboration with schools and Life Skills Departments.

• Engagement with the Khomas School Health Task Force to support outreach and expansion efforts.

• Increased awareness of the economic challenges faced by learner mothers and the importance of practical support solutions.

Testimonial

One learner mother shared:

“Being part of this programme gives me hope for the future. I am learning new skills and feel encouraged to stay in school while caring for my child.”

Challenges

Challenges remain, including limited resources for expansion, transportation costs, and the need for ongoing mentorship and support within schools.

Next Steps

In the next quarter, Lidar plans to expand outreach to additional schools, strengthen partnerships with education stakeholders, continue mentorship activities, and provide further training opportunities for learner mothers.

We thank GlobalGiving donors and supporters for helping young mothers remain in school and work towards brighter futures for themselves and their children.
