Restoring Hope, Improving Family Livelihoods.

By Ntenga Moses | Project Leader

Dear Friends,

Because of your compassion and generosity, children and families in Northern Uganda continue to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. Through our Lira Administrative Hub, your support is helping restore opportunities for children affected by the long-term impacts of conflict by strengthening child protection, education, psychosocial wellbeing, and family livelihoods. This work aligns with our commitment to support vulnerable children in post-conflict Northern Uganda through education, mental health support, and livelihood interventions.

During this reporting period (April–June 2026), 99 children (57 girls and 42 boys) participated in our structured psychosocial support sessions.

50 caregivers attended positive parenting and child protection dialogues.

20 vulnerable households received livelihood support through climate-smart kitchen gardening and small business skills training, which helped families improve food security and household income.

Your kindness is best reflected in stories like Ayaa, a 10-year-old girl from Kole District who struggled with anxiety and isolation after losing both parents. After attending our weekly counselling sessions and joining a peer support group, she regained confidence, returned to school regularly, and now leads discussions encouraging other girls to stay in school.

Her words say it all: "I no longer feel alone. I now believe my future is still possible."

Another beneficiary, Mrs. Aciro, a mother of four, used the livelihood training to establish a small vegetable garden at her home. The additional income has enabled her to buy school supplies for his children and provide more nutritious meals at home. "For the first time in years," she shared, "I can support my family without depending entirely on casual labour."

Together, we also organized two community child protection dialogues, two school based psychosocial wellness sessions, and two community livelihood demonstration events, bringing together local leaders, caregivers, teachers, and young people to strengthen child protection systems and community resilience.

Every child who smiles again, every caregiver who gains confidence, and every family taking steps toward self-reliance is a testament to your generosity. Thank you for standing with the children of Northern Uganda and helping restore hope where it is needed most.

With gratitude,

Joy for Children Uganda.
