A New Collaboration

Since our last progress report we were contacted by a newly formed foundation in the San Francisco, California area interested in helping to fund some of LRFF’s smaller projects.

This new foundation has the most interesting and innovative strategy. They have a bar in which they hold fundraising events. All of the “profits” from each event/party are given to their partner organizations and they have chosen LRFF as a partner. They had chosen our project Educational Reforestation in Fortuna, Costa Rica to fund first, only 500 trees, but we already have a transportation company interested in funding this one (read the most recent progress report there).

So I got to thinking and realized that one of the properties in the Restoring Forests in Guatuso project was only ½ hectare or 500 trees, owned by Angelo Cruz. I proposed this to the Libation Foundation with photos to illustrate the property and they agreed. That means that the Restoring Forests project has 500 trees less to plant and I will be editing the budget and project description to reflect this. Bottom line, less funding needed to get this project implemented.

At our website we offer carbon offsetting for different monthly plans. You can be carbon neutral for life for as little as $5/month. On our carbon offset page you calculate your carbon footprint (emissions from all of your activities) and then offset it by planting trees with LRFF. http://lrff.org/offset-carbon/carbon-neutral-for-life/.

Now is the time for giving back to our Earth, the only way she can survive. “The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth”. In other words her health is our health and we are the gardeners.
