Restoring Forests in Guatuso, Alajuela, Costa Rica

We’re doubling down in 2012. This project was the first to be developed this year. No donations have yet been received for this project since posting it in March. But, we’ve been very busy developing four more projects in the same general area.

Last year LRFF planted 35,000 (35 hectares) along the Rio Sol creating a biological corridor of native, tropical forest trees. The total for this year after these five new projects receive funding is 70,000 trees or 70 hectares. Let me introduce you to these new projects and links to the project pages. I know that many of you would like to do some volunteer work for LRFF so why not help us fundraise, this is what takes 90% of our time.

“Reforesting the Deforestation” is an amazing project of 42 hectares of old cattle pastures to be restored to tropical forest. The area begins at the pristine Caño Blanco wetlands and will fill in forest between two existing forests. The story on this project is very interesting so be sure to check it out.

“Educational Reforestation in La Fortuna” is a very small and very valuable project for its size. Only 500 trees or ½ hectare and a very affordable budget. The benefits of this little project can only be appreciated by having a look.

“Rio Sol, Across the River” is a continuation of the Rio Sol Biological Corridor project that we planted in 2011 and are now maintaining. Just like this projects name says, it’s across the river, exactly, from the areas we planted last year.

We’re waiting to start planting this year. The rains are here, it’s plantin’ time again. Let’s all do this, get planting.
