Project Report | Oct 8, 2024
Dignity Drive 2024

By Sharon Mukucha | Project Manager

APOF is a vibrant private voluntary organization dedicated to building and maintaining happy homes for orphans and vulnerable children. We partner with local, regional, and international organizations to provide spiritual guidance, food, clothing, education, mentorship, and rehabilitation.

Overview

This report highlights our success stories in Chegutu Rural District during the third quarter of 2024. Following our participation in the End Child Marriage campaign in August, we hosted a Dignity Drive for young women in September.

Dignity Drive

On September 22, 2024, we distributed sanitary hampers to 70 girls at Mhondoro Jubaira (Rwizi Community Centre). The event aimed to end period poverty, address challenges faced by young women, and improve the well-being of orphans and vulnerable children.

Objectives

1. Provide sanitary wear to vulnerable girls.
2. Educate girls on menstrual cycle management.
3. Address problems associated with early child marriage.

Impact

Our drive helped girls feel more positively about menstruation, boosting their confidence to attend school during their periods.

Partnerships

We collaborated with Chegutu District Social Welfare officers, Chegutu RDC Childcare workers, and Angels Palace volunteers.

Conclusion

APOF's presence in Chegutu transforms the lives of orphans and vulnerable children. Our mission remains providing temporary care, love, happiness, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual nourishment, education, and hope for a bright future.

Primary Mission

1. Provide a home and care for orphaned and vulnerable children.
2. Foster growth and development (physical, social, emotional, intellectual).
3. Ensure access to education.
