Reef Life Foundation's Science Division, IntelliReefs has been in discussions for the creation of 40 Kelp Sites, 260 sq Kilometers, in the EU.
Kelp used to be 5x times the oceanic floor cover of coral reefs!
Since 1980, instead of flourishing coastal protection, and small fisheries success, kelp and important seaweed coverage is less than 4%!! Almost total degradation.
The goal of Intellireefs is increased biodiversity, hardscape for Kelp Polyps to land and holdfast. The Latest scientific research is on Carbon Remediation using IntelliReefs, and the Rapid Oceanic growth, providing Coastal Protection, and Economic Restoration.
The next project for Canada, UK, and other Northern Climate Kelp resporation is in the process of manufacturing a high basalt, and geology specific limestone "Oceanite" habitat series. Carbon Capture Scientists are monitoring the Canadian Habitats now, and the new series we are currently manufacturing has Biomimetic Monitoring Capabilities, Cameras, and other "round the clock" science updates for the laboratory teams who are pre-seeding small Oceanite modules with highly diverse kelp and seaweed species, and the biological communities which enhance healthy ocean viability for fish, oyster, lobster, and other bi-valves.

IntelliReefs first kelp restoration project has arrived at the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE) in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

This will be the flagship cold water, or "temperate ecosystem" project for IntelliReefs. The aim of this large-scale artificial reef deployment in Halifax Harbour is to ascertain the efficacy and impact of Oceanite for kelp forest, oyster bed, and near-shore fisheries restoration.

The deployment goals for the  nanotechnology artificial reefs were:

  1. to build complex fish habitat and shelter,

  2. to attract and rapidly grow wild corals, wild kelp, seaweed and feed increaded fish species

  3. to provide shaded areas for cryptic invertebrate communities,

  4. to increase small-scale site biodiversity, and

  5. adhering to strict budgetary requirements.
