Serving Families Amid Unprecedented Violence

Thank you for standing with the people of Haiti during one of the most difficult periods in the nation's recent history.

The humanitarian crisis unfolding in Haiti continues to deepen. Across Port-au-Prince and surrounding communities, escalating gang violence has forced thousands of families from their homes, overwhelmed essential services, and left countless children and vulnerable adults without access to basic necessities. The scale of displacement, fear, and suffering is unlike anything our team has witnessed before.

While many organizations have been forced to suspend activities due to the extreme insecurity, Hunger Relief International has remained on the ground and expanded our response. Through the dedication and courage of our Haitian staff—including physicians, social workers, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) specialists—we continue to serve those who have nowhere else to turn.

Despite the danger, we continue serving children living in orphanages located within gang-controlled communities. Every day requires careful planning and vigilance, but we remain committed to ensuring these children receive the care, protection, and hope they deserve.

Your Support Is Making a Difference

Because of compassionate supporters like you, HRI has been able to accomplish the following in 2026:

Improving Food Security

Through our partnership with the World Food Programme, HRI has helped improve food security for 53,785 people affected by poverty, displacement, and instability. As an implementing partner on the ground, our team works directly with communities to ensure vulnerable families receive lifesaving assistance.

Providing Clean Water to Displaced Families

Access to safe water remains one of the greatest needs among displaced populations. HRI has served 3,787 displaced people at two displacement sites, distributing more than 57,000 gallons of water and 32,000 gallons of potable drinking water. For families who have lost everything, clean water means protection from disease, dignity, and survival.

Caring for Vulnerable Orphans

Each month, HRI continues to support 248 orphaned children with nutritious food, clean water, medical care, hygiene supplies, and improved sanitation. These children have already experienced tremendous hardship, and your support helps ensure they are protected, nourished, and cared for during this crisis.

Transforming an Orphanage into a Home

At one orphanage, your generosity has helped do far more than meet basic needs. In addition to providing monthly food and clean water, HRI has worked to create a safer, healthier, and more nurturing environment for the children.

Recent improvements include:

  • Solar panels providing reliable electricity
  • A new stove for meal preparation
  • Computers and educational resources
  • A television for learning and recreation
  • New bedding, plates, cups, and utensils
  • Fresh paint and facility improvements that make the home brighter and more welcoming

These investments are helping transform the orphanage from a place of survival into a place where children can learn, grow, and experience the comfort and dignity every child deserves.

Bringing Life-Saving Electricity to Rural Health Clinics

Access to reliable electricity is something many of us take for granted, but in rural Haiti, frequent power outages and the absence of dependable electrical service can mean the difference between life and death. To help address this critical challenge, HRI installed solar power systems at seven rural health clinics, providing a sustainable source of electricity for communities that previously struggled with unreliable power.

These solar systems allow clinics to safely store vaccines and medications, power essential medical equipment, provide lighting for nighttime emergencies and deliveries, and improve the overall quality of healthcare services available to vulnerable families. Healthcare workers can now care for patients more effectively, even after dark or during power outages.

The impact has been remarkable. Since receiving solar power, the clinics have reported significant improvements in their ability to provide consistent medical services, including safer maternal healthcare and emergency treatment. By investing in renewable energy, HRI is helping strengthen Haiti's healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that thousands of children and families have access to more reliable, life-saving medical care for years to come.

Looking Ahead

The crisis in Haiti is far from over. Violence continues to displace families, overwhelm communities, and place vulnerable children at risk. Yet every day, our team remains committed to delivering food, water, medical care, hygiene support, and hope to those who need it most.

We are deeply grateful for your partnership. Your support is helping save lives, protect children, and bring relief to families facing unimaginable circumstances.

Thank you for standing with Haiti during this critical time.
