All Girls Should Be Able to Go to School!

*HOPE FOR KIDS*
*REPORT: LET'S ADVOCATE FOR A GIRL CHILD*

*1. BACKGROUND*
A girl child in our slum communities faces double pain - poverty and gender inequality. She is told education is not for her. She is at risk of early marriage, teenage pregnancy, menstrual shame, and dropping out. Her voice is not heard. She needs us to stand and advocate for her.

*2. OBJECTIVES*
To advocate for a girl child by:
- Keeping her in school and safe
- Ending menstrual shame and stigma
- Protecting her from abuse, early marriage and exploitation
- Giving her voice, confidence and dignity

*3. ACTIVITIES DONE*
We advocated by action:
- Paid school fees for 45 most vulnerable girls
- Provided pads and dignity kits to 180 girls
- Conducted mentorship and life skills for 200 girls
- Provided counseling and protection for 12 girls at risk
- Held community dialogues to advocate against early marriage

*4. ACHIEVEMENTS*
- 260+ girls advocated for and kept in school
- Girls now confident, speaking up, not hiding
- Improved attendance - no more missing school due to periods
- Reduced risk of early marriage in our families
- Community now listens to girl child issues

*5. CHALLENGES*
- Many girls still unheard - limited funds
- No private washrooms for girls in schools
- High risk of abuse and exploitation on streets
- Few female mentors and counselors
- Poverty pushes families to marry off girls early

*6. WAY FORWARD*
- Strengthen girl child advocacy clubs in schools
- Provide monthly pads and mentorship to all 260+ girls
- Build safe space and private washrooms for girls
- Start girl empowerment and skills project
- Involve community leaders to advocate together
