*HOPE FOR KIDS*
*REPORT: END MENSTRUAL SHAME*
*1. BACKGROUND*
For many girls in our communities, menstruation means shame, fear, and missing school. They have no pads, no information, no support. They use old clothes, stay home for 4-5 days every month, and drop out of school. Menstrual shame is stealing their education and dignity.
*2. OBJECTIVES*
To end menstrual shame by:
- Providing sanitary pads
- Providing menstrual health education
- Providing private washrooms and dignity kits
- Restoring confidence and keeping girls in school
*3. ACTIVITIES DONE*
To end shame, we have:
- Distributed reusable and disposable pads to 180 girls
- Conducted menstrual health talks for 250 girls and boys
- Provided dignity kits (underwear, soap, towel)
- Provided counseling to end stigma and fear
- Trained teachers and mothers to support girls
*4. ACHIEVEMENTS*
- 180+ girls no longer miss school due to periods
- Shame reduced - girls are confident in class
- Improved attendance and performance for girls
- Boys now understand and support, not mock
- Girls speak openly, not in hiding
*5. CHALLENGES*
- Many girls still without pads - limited supply
- No private changing rooms in schools
- No water and soap in most schools
- Deep stigma and myths still exist
- Limited funds to sustain monthly supply
*6. WAY FORWARD*
- Monthly pad distribution for all 260+ girls
- Build private girls' washrooms with water
- Scale up education to more schools and communities
- Start reusable pad-making project for sustainability
- Involve more boys and men to end shame completely
*7. CONCLUSION & APPEAL*
No girl should feel ashamed for being a girl. No girl should miss school because of a natural period.
